The iPhone Dev Team have just released redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta 1 Beta 3 for Mac. Here is redsn0w 0.9.7 tutorial to jailbreak iPhone 4 4.2.1. It’s for testers at the moment and is not recommended for general use, so proceed at your own risk.
How to Jailbreak iPhone 4 4.2.1 with Redsn0w 0.9.7
Before you Begin:
- Make sue you have factory unlocked iPhone 4 that doesn’t rely on ultrasn0w 1.2
- Backup all your data
- Update to iOS 4.2.1 and jailbreak it with redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 4 (tethered)
- Download redsn0w 0.9.7: redsn0w_mac_0.9.7b3.zip [redsn0w_mac_0.9.7b1.zip]
- Download usbmuxd-1.0.6.tar.bz2
Note: You need to have iOs 4.2.1 Beta 3 IPSW
Step 1: Extract the download usbmuxd onto the computer
Step 2: Connect your iPhone with Mac
Step 3: Start Terminal in python-client directory
Step 4: Run following commands:
- chmod +x tcprelay.py
- ./tcprelay.py -t 22:2222
Step 5: Launch Redsn0w 0.9.7
Step 6: In redsn0w, browse for iOS 4.2.1 IPSW and click “Next”
Step 7: Select “Jailbreak Monte” from the redsn0w options
Step 8: Browse for iOS 4.2.1 Beta 3 IPSW and click “Next”
Step 9: Now put your device off and make sure it’s connected to the computer
Step 10: Next you need to put your device in DFU mode, redsn0w will show you on-screen instructions to help with this. You’ll need to:
- Hold Power button for 3 seconds
- Keep pressing Power button, also press Home button for 10 seconds
- Release the power button but keep pressing Home button for 30 seconds.
Once in DFU mode, redsn0w will do rest of process. Your device will reboot after redsn0w would untether iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak. Enjoy!
