Amazon Kindle E-Reader to Cost Less than $150?
Launch of Apple iPad ignited the e-reader war and posed some serious threats for Amazon Kindle e-reader. Since then, Amazon has been looking for ways to combat the newly posed threat from Apple iPad. Now, thanks to the chipmaker, Freescale, price of Amazon Kindle e-reader could possibly be as low as $150, or even lower. Freescale develops the chips mainly for Amazon and Sony and the vendor is all set to develop chips, streamlined specifically for gadgets. This will be a breather for Amazon as they get ready to fight for retaining their e-book reader market share that is currently 90%. The new chip will be capable of:
- Reducing the time it takes to turn a page from 2 seconds to less than half of the second.
- Minimizing the number of processers that e-readers require.
- Cutting the cost of the chip by $30
E-Readers are certainly going to be the new battlefield for major players like Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and others.
