If you are trying to run Spirit jailbreak tool on Windows 7 or Vista, you might be getting message “Spirit failed to jailbreak” error code c0000005 and Spirit.exe will crash saying “dl.exe” has stopped working”. Screenshot of the error:
To fix this, you need to run Spirit.exe in Windows 98 compatible mode to fix the error. Here is how to do this:
- Right click on downloaded Spirit.exe file and click “Properties”
- Go to “Compatibility” tab and check “Run this program in compatibility mode for:”. Drop down box below the checkbox will be enabled.
- Select “Windows 98 / Windows Me” from the dropdown and click “Ok”.
- Now run Spirit.exe, you will not get the Error c0000005 during the Spirit jailbreak process.
