While jailbreaking 4.3.1 iOS, some users are reporting redsn0w stuck on uploading ramdisk while the iPhone shows “Downloading Jailbreak Data” and freezes there. If you’re seeing this error while trying to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 with redsn0w 0.9.6 RC9, try this:
- Extract the redsn0w zip file
- Right click on redsn0w.exe and click on Properties
- Move to Compatibility tab of Properties
- Select the checkbox “Run this program in compatibility mode for” … select Windows XP Service Pack 3 from dropdown

- Click Apply and then OK.
- Now run redsn0w and try to jailbreak again.
If this does not work:
Do a fresh restore to iOS 4.3.1 and try jailbreaking again. This should solve the problem as it’s caused when you browse for different IPSW in redsn0w while running another version of iOS on your device. For example:
You’ll get redsn0w stuck on uploading ramdisk if you are running iOS 4.2.1 but browsed for iOS 4.3.1 IPSW in redsn0w.
If you continue to get this message, you can always use Sn0wbreeze 2.5 for Windows or PwnageTool 4.3 for Mac instead.
