How to Root Nexus S with Superboot
WARNING: Do this at your own risk.
Before you Begin:
- Perform a data backup
- Check the version of Gingerbread you’re running (It could be GRH78 or GRH55)
- Unlock Nexus S bootloader
Step 1: Download Superboot
- for Gingerbread GRH78 GRH78-nexuss-superboot.zip
- for Gingerbread GRH55 GRH55-nexuss-superboot.zip
Step 2: Extract the downloaded zip file in a directory
Step 3: Put Nexus S in bootloader mode (How to: Turn off the phone, then press and hold Volume Up and Power buttons together to start in bootloader mode).
Step 4: Get the root access
Root Nexus S on Windows
Double-click install-superboot-windows.bat
Root Nexus S Mac OS X
- Open Terminal
- In Terminal, move to the directory where you’ve extracted the files
- Type: chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh
- Type: ./install-superboot-mac.sh
- Now wait for process to complete
Root Nexus S Linux / Ubuntu
- Open Terminal
- In Terminal, move to the directory where you’ve extracted the files
- Type: chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh
- Type: ./install-superboot-linux.sh
- Now wait for process to complete
Once the process completes, you will have rooted Nexus S. Enjoy!
