Android 2.3 Gingerbread source code was released yesterday and we already have Gingerbread AOSP ROM for Nexus One. It’s released by Chris Soyars and does have some shortcomings. Here is official word from Chris:

Here is a build of AOSP for the Nexus One.  A few things to note.

  • This may overwrite your recovery.
  • Does not include ANY proprietary applications (find your own).  That means no market.
  • Plain vanilla AOSP.
  • I will not release any builds for other devices, as we still have to work on those.
  • Requires, REQUIRES, 35.0017 hboot.
  • Nexus One ONLY.
  • No camera (because I am lazy).
