Mobile Terminal for 5.0.1 iOS is one of the most use jailbreak tweaks. Sadly, the updated version is not available in Cydia. However, you can still install Mobile Terminal on iPad 2 or on iPhone 4S, or on any other device. Here are the steps that you need to follow:

Step 1: Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1

Step 2: Download Mobile Terminal: MobileTerminal_520-1_iphoneos-arm.deb

Step 3: SSH into iPhone. Windows: Use i-FunBox or WinCSP. Mac: Use CyberDuck

Step 4: Copy the Mobile Terminal file (that you downloaded in step 2 above) to: /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall

Note: You should be able to find the specified directories in your device’s file system. If you cannot locate the “Cydia” folder in “Media”, create it. Then create another folder named “AutoInstall” in “Cydia” folder and copy the .deb file there.

Step 5: Reboot your device.

That’s it! You can now find the Mobile Terminal on your iOS 5.0.1 powered device.

Grant Paul has released another awesome tool, Zephyr v1.0 for iOS, that lets you swipe up to see Multitasking Switcher. You can download Zephyr from BigBoss Repo in Cydia. It’s not free though, and costs $3. Once you install it, you don’t have to double tap the Home button to see the Multitasking Switcher. You can, rather swipe up to see it. It’s smooth. Here is a video walkthrough of Zephyr:

To install it:

  • Open Cydia on your device and search for Zephyr.
  • Purchase and install it on your device.

Note: Since this is a jailbreak tweak, you will need to jailbreak your device first, if you haven’t done it already. You can jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.10 or PwnageTool 5.0.1. If you are on a tethered jailbreak, you can untether it using Corona 5.0.1 Untether.
