Facebook has added a new feature “Promote” to the Facebook Pages wall posts. This new feature lets page admins promote a specific post easily. The “promote” link appears next to the “Share” link at the bottom of every wall post on Facebook Page. Clicking on “Promote” opens a window that displays summary of the ad with demographics of target audience, ad duration and maximum price you are willing to bid for the advert. This way Facebook lets Page admins promote a post in one click. If you agree to target audience and maximum cost specified in the window, you can click “Create Ad”, it takes you directly to the payments page. If you want to change anything about the advert you can hit “Edit Ad” to specify custom details for Facebook Page wall post promotion. Check the screenshot:

Facebook Promote Page Posts

How It Works:

Facebook takes target audience location from Page admin’s profile. If you’re an admin and live in Brazil, you get “who live in Brazil”.

Ad description is taken from what you write in to update the wall post. If you attached a link and wrote “Hey check out my new Facebook Page Post” and clicked “Share”, same will be the descriptive text for your post Ad.

You can of course change the description of the Ad as well as target audience by clicking “Edit Ad”.

This appears to be one great feature added by Facebook. It will not only increase effectiveness of the wall posts but will also attract more Page admins in promoting their Facebook Page posts.

On February 25, 2010, in How to, by TechAdmin

Google Analytics for Facebook PagesIt’s tricky but possible to set up Google Analytics for Facebook Pages. Facebook already offers some analytics for page owners that show demographics of page fans and their activity on the page. However having a specialized analytics system like Google Analytics to track traffic, fans and visitor stats of your Facebook Page can enable you to grab some useful information that may be used in decision making and marketing. To get Facebook Page stats in Google Analytics account, follow the steps given below:

  1. Add a new website profile in your Google Analytics account
  2. Enter the URL of your Facebook Page to set up new profile and click “Finish”
  3. On next page, it will show you tracking code. Copy your website profile ID from that code that will look like UA-1234567-1
  4. Copy that code and paste it in Google Analytics for Facebook Page converter
  5. Fill in the complete form and click on generate link
  6. Copy and paste the code on the Facebook that you want to track in Google Analytics
  7. It will take some time (max 24 hours) for stats to appear in Analytics.
