There’s apparently a leaked video showing White iPhone 4 with iOS 5. Previously unseen, it appears to be iOS 5 and exhibits enhanced multitasking features. There are rumors that Apple may not launch a new hardware this summer and WWDC 2011 event may be all about software. So, there’s every chance that this may be iOS 5, here’s the video:

iPhone Nano? Apple Working on Cheaper iPhone

According to Bloomberg, Apple is reportedly working on a cheaper iPhone model to combat Android Smartphones. iPhone Nano, as we’ll call it for now, is aimed at helping Apple grab more market share. iPhone Nano price could be around $200 without any contracts and release date could be as near as this summer. As Bloomberg quotes:

Apple Inc. is working on new versions of the iPhone that are aimed at slowing the advance of competing handsets based on Google Inc.’s Android software, according to people who have been briefed on the plans.

Apple has considered selling the new iPhone for about $200, without obligating users to sign a two-year service contract, said the person who has seen it.

If the rumor is to be believed, we’ll soon be sighting iPhone Nano, 3-times smaller than iPhone 4 in size. Let’s see if the rumors comes true.

Jailbreak Verizon iPhone 4 4.2.6 with Greenpois0n RC5 Beta 4

Greenpois0n RC5 Beta 4 is now out with support to jailbreak Verizon iPhone 4 4.2.6 iOS. So, if you’ve got a Verizon iPhone and want to jailbreak iOS 4.2.6 on it, here is how to do it:

Download Greenpois0n RC5 Beta 4

Windows: gp_win_rc5_b4.zip

Mac OS X: gp_mac_rc5_b4.zip

Jailbreak Verizon iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.6

The steps are same as mentioned in our greenpois0n tutorial to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1. Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Connect the Verizon iPhone 4 to the computer via USB and launch Greenpois0n RC5

Step 2: Click on “Jailbreak” button in Greenpois0n

Step 3: Follow on-screen instructions to put iPhone in DFU mode, you’ll need to:

  1. Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds
  2. While holding the Power button; also press and hold home for 10 seconds.
  3. Release the Power button; continue holding the Home button for 15 seconds.

Step 4: Greenpois0n RC5 will now process the iOS 4.2.6 jailbreak.

To Install Cydia:

After jailbreak, you’ll find Loader on iPhone Springboard. Tap on it to install Cydia.

Apple iOS 4.2.6 Build 8E200 for Verizon iPhone 4 Avaialble for Download

Apple has released iOS 4.2.6 8E200 for Verizon iPhone 4. At the time of announcement, Verizon iPhone 4 had iOS 4.2.5 Build 8E128 and was expected to arrive with iOS 4.3 firmware. Apple, however, seems to have changed the plan and Verizon iPhone 4 will ship with iOS 4.2.6 8E200. An update to iOS 4.3 for all devices may follow soon.

Will SHAtter or Limera1n Jailbreak Verizon iPhone 4 4.2.5 iOS?

Soon after announcement of Verizon iPhone 4, many of you would be wondering whether limera1n exploit will jailbreak Verizon iPhone 4 and will there be jailbreak for iOS 4.2.5. While there can be no certain point unless the VZW iPhone is released on February 10, however, there is every possibility that limera1n exploit may not work. Following points are crucial in this regard:

New Hardware:

Verizon iPhone comes with hardware changes. There’s new antenna, revised hardware buttons and there’s possibility that Apple may have patched the limera1n exploit, that was introduced by GeoHot in October 2010.

iOS 4.2.5:

To add support for HotSpot, Verizon iPhone runs on updated iOS 4.2.5. Currently there’s no untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak, redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 6 offers a workaround that required iOS 4.2 Beta 3 IPSW. Another iOS update could be harder to crack.

We’ll have to wait and see whether any of limera1n or SHAtter exploit works to jailbreak VZW iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.5.

Just-announced Verizon iPhone 4 runs on iOS 4.2.5 8E128. AT&T iPhone has iOS 4.2.1 8C148. Difference in OS could be to allow the use of Personal Hotspots in Verizon iPhone.

Shipping February 10, Verizon iPhone will run on iOS 4.2.5. It’s still not clear whether AT&T iPhone will also get the iOS 4.2.5 update or not.
