Want to to install iOS 4.3 on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch without UDID? You can try a workaround to update to iOS 4.3 Beta 2 without developers account.

WARNING: We haven’t tested this method personally and can’t guarantee if this will work. Try this at your own risk.

DISCLAIMER: Apple iOS Betas are meant for iOS developers only. If you are a developer, you will have the UDID. If otherwise, we do not recommend non-developers to try and install iOS 4.3 Beta 2. You should rather head to Apple Developer Center and join the developer program (that’s only $99 a year) to have access to all iOS Betas.

Install iOS 4.3 Beta 2 on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch

Before you Begin:

Step 1: Load the downloaded iOS 4.3 beta 2 IPSW to your device (see how to load custom IPSW)

Step 2: Jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.6 RC8

Step 3: SSH into iPhone using iFunBox or WinCSP on Windows or CyberDuck on Mac

Step 4: In iPhone file hierarchy, navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices

Step 5: Locate the file named SystemVersion.plist, open it with text editor and remove the following lines:

<key>ReleaseType</key>

<string>Beta</string>

Step 6: Reboot your device and activate with iTunes.

At times you may need to hard restore iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Common reason to perform a hard restore would be repeated crashes or in case you brick your device and it’s stuck on Apple logo, not starting up. Done with the “when” part? Let’s now proceed on the “How” part:

How to Hard Restore iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

Step 1: Connect your iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch with computer

Step 2: Turn of your device

Step 3: Press and Hold Power + Home buttons together until you see following message on iTunes:

iPhone-DFU-mode

Your iPhone / iPad screen will look like this:

iPhone-in-DFU-mode

Step 4: Press “Ok” to the iTunes message. Now you’ll see a restore button in iTunes, don’t yet click it. Windows Users: Press and hold Shift key and click on Restore button. For Mac: Press and hold Shift key and click on Restore button.

Step 5: iTunes will ask for location of IPSW to load, select your firmware IPSW and press Ok.

Step 6: iTunes will confirm if you want to restore to selected firmware, confirm!

Step 7: Now iTunes will process the IPSW installation, let it complete. That’s all.

If you face any problems, try loading IPSW in DFU mode or let us know in comments.

Getting an error saying that the app is not signed while syncing iPhone with your PC? I’ve been facing this error when I purchased some apps in iTunes and when I tried to transfer apps to the iPhone, it showed the error message like “Application was not installed on the iPhone because it is not signed. I tried almost everything from clearing the iTunes data to de-authorizing and then re-authorizing my PC. Nothing seemed to work though. I then noticed the recent changes that I made to the PC and figured it out.

The problem is most likely caused by the Firewall that you may have installed. In my case, it was ZoneAlarm that was not letting the app to sync with iPhone. I uninstalled the ZoneAlarm and it worked well. I was able to transfer all the apps without facing any error.

So, try tweaking or uninstalling your Firewall if you get to see “app is not signed” error.

Apple has finally released iOS 4.0.2 for iPod Touch 2G after the device was denied an update to the version of iOS that fixed the exploit used in JailbreakMe. That PDF exploit in iOS 4 and iOS 4.0.1 not only allowed JailbreakMe to jailbreak you iPhone or iPad but could also open your device to possible vulnerabilities. Earlier iOS 4.0.2 was released for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch but older devices, including iPod Touch 2G were omitted.

Now you can update to iOS 4.0.2 as update is available for public download but you will lose your jailbreak.

It should be noted that these features are slightly different to what leaked iPod Touch 4G showed back in May. Leaked version showed hints for a 2 Mega Pixels camera and there was NO front facing camera at that time. Now there’s the rumor that iPod Touch 4th generation might come with 5 Mega Pixels camera coupled with front facing Camera just like iPhone 4.

Let’s see what the finished version of iPod Touch 4G might look like.
