Redsn0w iPad 4.3.5: Jailbreak iPad iOS 4.3.5 8L1

Using Redsn0w 0.9.8b4, you can jailbreak iPad 4.3.5 iOS (build 8L1). Apple released iOS 4.3.5 firmware earlier today and redsn0w can already jailbreak 4.3.5 on iOS devices (other than iPad 2). Jailbreak is based on GeoHot’s limera1n exploit, that cannot be patched with a software update by Apple. It is, however, a tethered jailbreak, which means that you will have to connect your device to the computer whenever you have to reboot your device.

Earlier we posted a redsn0w guide for iOS 4.3.5 jailbreak. You can use it for redsn0w iPad 4.3.5 jailbreak as well. Here’s what you need to do to jailbreak iPad 4.3.5:

First: Upgrade iPad 2 iOS 4.3.5

Then: Follow step by step guide to jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 on iPad.

NOTE: You cannot jailbreak iPad 2 4.3.5 at the moment. If you want to keep jailbreak on iPad 2, you should keep it to iOS 4.3.3 firmware, jailbreakable with JailbreakMe 3.0.

Redsn0w iPad 4.3.2 Guide: How to Jailbreak iPad 4.3.2 [Windows & Mac]

Using redsn0w 0.9.6RC12, you can jailbreak iPad 4.3.2 on Windows & Mac. It will be tethered jailbreak for now since untethered iPad 4.3.2 jailbreak is not available as yet. Here is what you need to do:

Download Required Files:

iOS 4.3.2 firmware for iPad: iPad1,1_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw

iOS 4.3.1 firmware for iPad

iTunes 10.2.1 for Windows / Mac

Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC12: Windows: Redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc12.zip Mac OS X: Redsn0w_mac_0.9.6rc12.zip

How to Jailbreak iPad 4.3.2

Step 1: Update iPad to iOS 4.3.2 (See: How to)

Step 2: Extract and open Redsn0w.

Step 3: Browse for iOS 4.3.1 IPSW (not to iOS 4.3.2) and click Next.

Step 4: Make sure that you select “Install Cydia” option from the list provided by Redsn0w, others are optional.

Step 4: Connect your iPad running iOS 4.3.2 with PC while iPad is turned off.

Step 5: Now you will need to put your device in DFU mode. Redsn0w will show you on-screen instructions for help. You will have to:

  1. Press and Hold Power button for 2 seconds
  2. Keep holding Power button and press & hold Home button. Hold both these buttons for 10 seconds.
  3. Now Leave the Power button but keep holding home button for 20 more seconds.

Step 6: Once iPad gets in DFU mode, Redsn0w will start processing 4.3.2 jailbreak.

Your device will reboot once process is complete. That’s it!

PwnageTool Bundles 4.3.1: Jailbreak iPad 4.3.1 iOS [Guide]

PwnageTool Bundles for iOS 4.3.1 are now available. So you can patch PwnageTool and jailbreak iPad 4.3.1 iOS. There’s no official Pwnage Tool 4.3.1 release to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 as yet so you will have to patch it by yourself, here’s the guide:

Note: This is tethered jailbreak for now.

Step 1: Getting Ready

  1. Download iOS 4.3.1 firmware IPSW for iPad [iPad1,1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore.ipsw]
  2. Download iTunes 10.2.1
  3. Download Official PwnageTool 4.2 and move it to Applications directory
  4. Download PwnageTool 4.3.1 Bundles for iPad [Download]
  5. Download and install Universal Ramdisk Fixer 1.7.1 [Ramdisk Fixer_1.7.2.pkg]

Step 2: Patching PwnageTool to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1

  1. Extract the iPad1,1_4.3.1_8G4.bundle.zip file that you downloaded. You will find iPad1,1_4.3.1_8G4.bundle file in there.
  2. Right click on downloaded PwnageTool and select “Show Package Contents”.
  3. Move to Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles/ and paste the iPad1,1_4.3.1_8G4.bundle file there. Then close the directory.
  4. PwnageTool has been modified with new bundle for iOS 4.3.1.

Step 3: Jailbreak iPad 4.3.1 with Patched PwnageTool

  1. Launch the PwnageTool (in expert mode) that you patched in step 2
  2. Select your device and click next
  3. Browse and select iOS 4.3.1 IPSW
  4. From PwnageTool options, select Build and click Next.
  5. PwnageTool will now process the jailbreak and will create custom iOS 4.3.1 IPSW for you.

Step 4: Put iPad in DFU Mode

  1. Switch your device off
  2. Press and Hold Power + Home buttons for 10 seconds
  3. Leave the Power button but continue holding Home button for up to 20 seconds.
  4. Once you notice iTunes detecting your device, leave the home button and use iTunes to load IPSW.

Step 5: Load Custom IPSW

  1. Press and hold Shift key (Windows) or Alt key (for Mac) and click on “Restore”.
  2. Select the location of .ipsw file you want to restore or load on to iPad.
  3. Wait for iTunes to complete the process.

Step 6: Boot Tethered iPad 4.3.1 iOS

Phew! That’s it. Enjoy your jailbroken iPad.

How to Jailbreak iPad 4.3 iOS 8F190 with Sn0wbreeze

Apple iPad 2 users may not be able to jailbreak as yet but you can jailbreak iPad 4.3 iOS (build 8F190) with Sn0wbreeze 2.3. iH8Sn0w released the tool to jailbreak all 4.3 iOS on all idevices. The process is very much similar for all devices. Here’s what you need to do:

Download required things:

You will have to:

  • Launch Sn0wbreeze and follow the instructions.
  • Sn0wbreeze will create custom iPad iOS 4.3 IPSW, load custom IPSW.
  • Finally, boot tethered with iBooty.

Untethered Jailbreak iPad iOS 4.3 Shown off on Video

It didn’t take longer. One day after release of iOS 4.3, we have a video that shows off the untethered jailbreak on iPad iOS 4.3. That certainly is great news! Here is the video:

It clearly shows Cydia on iPad iOS 4.3. It’s currently in ‘alpha’ version since many of things are broken. It’s not sure which tool will be updated from Redsn0w, Greenpois0n and PwnageTool. Nonetheless, we can expect to jailbreak iOS 4.3 on iPad and other devices this weekend, what ya say?

PwnageTool Bundles for iOS 4.3: Jailbreak iPad 4.3 Beta 1

Just posted iPad 4.3 jailbreak video, PwnageTool bundle to jailbreak iPad 4.3 Beta 1 has been released. You can download PwnageTool Bundle 4.3 and use it to jailbreak iOS 4.3 Beta 1 on iPad. If you have used PT Bundles in past, it should be the similar process this time around. Here’s what you need to do:

Important Update: Apple iOS 4.3 final version has been released. You can now jailbreak iPad 4.3 with Sn0wbreeze 2.3.

Place all these files in similar folder, anywhere on your Mac.

Step 1: Patching PwnageTool to Jailbreak iPad iOS 4.3

  1. Right Click on PwnageTool app then click on click on “Show Package Contents”
  2. Copy the downloaded PwnageTool bundle (iPad1,1_4.3_8F5148b.bundle) to Contents> Resources >Firmware Bundles. Then close the folder.

Step 2: Creating Custom iPad 4.3 Firmware

  1. Connect iPad with the Mac and Launch the PwnageTool that you customized in step 1.
  2. Select Expert Mode for PwnageTool, then select your device (iPad).
  3. Browse and select the downloaded iOS 4.3 Beta firmware IPSW
  4. Select “Build” in PwnageTool and click the Next button
  5. Let PT complete the jailbreak process. Once complete, it will create custom IPSW for you.

Step 3: Creating Custom Ramdisk for iPad 4.3

  1. Open the Ramdisk Maker that you downloaded (ramdisk_maker.sh) – Open in a text editor.
  2. It will have paths to the tools, change them if required
  3. Start Terminal on Mac and run following commands one by one:
  • Note: First you need to take the Terminal in the directory where ramdisk_maker is located. Then run following commands:

cd ramdisk_maker

./ramdisk_maker.sh

Now follow the instructions as shown in the Terminal window, you will need to:

  1. Create a directory named My_Ramdisk
  2. Rename the iOS 4.3 IPSW to .zip:
  3. Extract the .zip file and look for a file named 038-0408-002.dmg therein.
  4. Copy the 038-0408-002.dmg file to My_Ramdisk directory. Terminal Screen will now show the next step instructions.
  5. Go to ramdisk_maker directory and open the Options.plist file in a text editor.
  6. Search for <key>SystemPartitionSize</key> .. then look for <integer> tag. Place 1116 in the integer tag (should look like <integer>1116</integer>).
  7. Save and close the Options.plist file.
  8. Now move the edited Options.plist file in My_Ramdisk directory. Once you do it, Terminal will move on to next step.
  9. A new file will automatically be created in My_Ramdisk directory, file name: final_ramdisk.dmg
  10. Rename the file final_ramdisk.dmg to 038-0408-002.dmg
  11. Copy the 038-0408-002.dmg file to the extracted iOS 4.3 (Replace the existing file).
  12. Select all files in extracted iOS 4.3 directory, right click and select “Compress 9 Items” to archive it in zip format again.
  13. Rename the zip file to change its extension from .zip to .ipsw.

Step 4: Restore Custom iOS 4.3 IPSW with iTunes

iPad 4.3 Jailbreak Shown on Video

Apple released iOS 4.3 beta 1 last week that was jailbroken on iPhone 4 using PwnageTool Bundle from msft.guy. Now there’s a video showing iPad 4.3 jailbreak. The bundle to jailbreak iPad iOS 4.3 is not released yet, it may be out some time soon. Here’s the video:

iPad 4.2 Jailbreak with Sn0wbreeze 2.1

Update: You can jailbreak iPad 4.2.1 already with redsn0w 0.9.6 B4.

Sn0wbreeze 2.1 iPad 4.2 jailbreak could be released soon once Apple releases iOS 4.2 for iPad and all iDevices in November. Apparently, the latest version of Sn0wbreeze passed the test to jailbreak iPad iOS 4.2 Beta 3. A picture proof was shared by iH8sn0w that had a jailbroken iPad running mobile terminal for iOS 4.2. Here’s the graphic:

It should be noted that having been able to successfully jailbreak iPad 4.2 Beta 3 doesn’t guarantee that tool will work for final version of iOS 4.2. Apple might patch the software based exploit that makes limera1n, greenpois0n, PwnageTool 4.1 and other jailbreak tools work untethered. Don’t know what it’s about?
