How to Disable Deck.ly in TweetDeck 0.37.3

You can now disable Deck.ly, if you want to. TweetDeck introduced Deck.ly with version 0.37.2. The service allowed you to send tweets longer than 140 characters. However, there was no way to disable this service in v0.37.2. With TweetDeck 0.37.3, a new setting is available that lets you enable / disable deck.ly.

TweetDeck Disable Deck.ly

To do that:

  1. Install TweetDeck 0.37.3 from TweetDeck.com
  2. Go to Settings > General
  3. Locate “Use Deck.ly for sending long updates” and uncheck that option
  4. Click on “Save Settings” button.

You’re done!

TweetDeck for Android Beta Release in a Week?

On August 9, 2010, in Mobiles, by TechAdmin

TweetDeck for Android is coming! It’s almost there. A recent announcement confirms that TweetDeck for Android release is around the corner. Currently there’s scarcity of quality Twitter clients for Android as compared to iOS (iPhone & iPad). TweetDeck for Android will not just fix this hole but will bring in some new features that may be part of Twitter for iPhone later on.

According to the announcement:

First off, we’ve built Android TweetDeck from the ground up to be true multi-stream, laser focused on showing you all your friends’ cross-service activity in one app. Multi-column is still the order of the day but now columns are blended based on the type of activity rather than the service. And all this whilst retaining the most powerful functionality from each included service.

We’ve spent an inordinate amount of time making the app silky smooth from the column scrolling to the custom views – so much so that one of Google’s Android Developer Advocates recently described it as “a thing of beauty“. So look out for the beta test later this week and please do get involved.

Interestingly Android TweetDeck also represents the future of our iPhone and iPad applications. We’ll have a few bug fix releases shortly (awaiting approval in the app store) but in the background we are working on porting Android to iPhone in as quick a time as possible. Finally, it won’t be long before most of the new concepts in Android TweetDeck make it to the desktop and web – we’re also working on this now.

Many of users, including myself are having Facebook issues on TweetDeck. Each time TweetDeck is restarted, Facebook Connect authorization prompt shows up. Furthermore, the status updates posted via TweetDeck don’t show up as status update but are shown as “posts” instead. Issue’s been persisting for couple of days now and finally TweetDeck has come up with a solution with latest v0.33.3 of TweetDeck. The reason for the issues, as reported by TweetDeck, are unannounced changes in Facebook Connect API that are affecting many other applications that are using the API and Facebook Connect Function.

So, download TweetDeck 0.33.3 and say goodbye to Facebook Connect problems in TweetDeck.

TweetDeck LogoTweetDeck, one of the popular Twitter clients, has just launched the version 0.33 that has some exciting new features. TweetDeck now comes with support for YouTube which means that you can view YouTube videos right within TweetDeck and don’t have to open the YouTube links in browsers to watch the videos. There’s also support for Posterous, Mobypicture, Twitgoo, and Flickr and images from all these will now open in the preview box. Mobypicture has also been added as image uploading service in addition to TwitPic.

Apart from adding support for new media services, there’s major user interface improvement with addition of column viewer that lets you manage your columns easily. On hover, it shows the status of that specific column and clicking over it takes you to that specific column. It’s very useful feature for professional users who keep track of different hashtags and have quite many columns added in their TweetDeck. You will not have to scroll long way just to check the status of that column it’s been made easy by column viewer. Here is how YouTube videos look on TweetDeck Preview box:

As from now, TweetDeck is using OAuth, the open protocol to share resources, for smarter API usage. This means that TweetDeck can now make up to 350 API calls in an hour, and it can still go beyond that.
