Push Notifications on Twitter for iPhone

Push notifications for Twitter for iPhone will soon go underway. Twitter is reportedly testing push notifications internally while the option to enable push notifications is also available for users running iOS 4.1 GM on iPhone. According to Twitter:

We’ve been testing push notifications internally. When we launched Twitter for iPad, there was a configuration error that caused us to offer push messages to a small set of users. We’ve stopped sending push messages, but users may see an option to turn on push until we release an updated version of the app. So, push isn’t ready yet but we look forward to rolling this out soon.

It’s still not clear that push notifications will be for mentions and DMs or will there be options to choose from larger set of options.

Twitter for iPhone 3.0.1 has been released and now supports multitasking, retina display and other features of iOS4. So, now you can switch away from twitter for iPhone, play around with other apps and then switch back to Twitter for iPhone. This is the sort of multitasking support that Twitter app for iPhone has brought to iOS 4.

If you have Twitter for iPhone installed, update it to latest version. If you don’t have it already, search app store for “Twitter for iPhone” and install the app.
