Ultrasn0w has been updated to support iOS 4.3.1 unlock on iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. You can now download ultrasn0w 1.2.1 from ultrasn0w repo in Cydia to unlock iPhone 4 4.3.1 iOS and iPhone 3GS 4.3.1 iOS. This is to be noted that it’s not a new unlock and you need to have preserved your baseband to unlock 4.3.1 iOS with ultrasn0w. Like ultrasn0w 1.2, version 1.2.1 supports following basebands:

  • 01.59.00
  • 04.26.08
  • 05.11.07
  • 05.12.01
  • 05.13.04
  • 06.15.00

You can download ultrasn0w 1.2.1 from Cydia. Ultrasn0w repo is: repo666.ultrasn0w.com.

If you want to unlock iPhone 4 4.3.1 iOS, there’s a good news. Since ultrasn0w 1.2, the current version of ultrasn0w is broken on iOS 4.3.1. According to MuscleNerd, an updated version of Ultrasn0w for 4.3.1 iOS will be released later today that will allow you to unlock iPhone 4.3.1 if you’ve been able to preserve your baseband. MuscleNerd said:

BTW ultrasn0w needs an update for 4.3.1, so unlockers should wait until that gets pushed out (hopefully also today)

The upcoming ultrasn0w update is *only* for 4.3.1 compatibility. Please don’t read anything else into it!

The ultrasn0w update won’t be a new unlock, but 4.3.1 FW itself breaks current ultrasn0w (unintentionally)

So, as it’s clear, the upcoming ultrasn0w 1.3 won’t support any additional basebands to unlock iPhone 4 4.3.1 and iPhone 3GS 4.3.1 but will *just* add the support for iOS 4.3.1 so that there’s no ultrasn0w crash issues on iOS 4.3.1.

Release will be out, possibly, later today or tomorrow. So, till then hold on from updating to iOS 4.3.1, even if you can preserve baseband. Stay tuned!

Currently Redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 6 can jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 but that’s tethered. There is also Ultrasn0w 1.2 for those who want to unlock iPhone 3GS 4.2.1 and iPhone 3G 4.2.1.

iPhone Dev Team’s ultrasn0w 1.2 works well to unlock iPhone 3GS & 3G 4.2.1 if they’re on baseband 06.15.00. You should jailbreak 4.2.1 & update 05.14.02 or 05.15.04 to 06.15.00 baseband in order to get iOS 4.2.1 unlock for 3G and 3GS iPhone versions. We’ve already posted a PwnageTool tutorial for those who want to use PwnageTool 4.1.3 (Mac only). Here is our guide for those Windows and Mac users who want to use redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 5 to jailbreak and update iPhone 3G and 3GS baseband to 06.15.00:

Before you Begin:

Download iOS 4.2.1 firmware and update iPhone to iOS 4.2.1

Download Redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 5 [Windows | Mac]

Step 1: Launch Redsn0w, click on “Browse” and select the downloaded iOS 4.2.1.

11-redsn0w-browse-firmware

Step 2: 3GS users, Redsn0w will show a dialog box asking if you have new bootrom or old one. Click “Yes” if you have new bootrom iPhone 3GS and click “No” if you have old bootrom version.

12-redsn0w-new-bootrom

Step 3: Redsn0w will show the following options:

  • Install Cydia
  • Install custom bundle
  • Install iPad baseband
  • Just boot tethered right now
  • Just enter pwned DFU mode right now

Select “Install Cydia”, that’s obvious of all. Also select “Install iPad baseband” if (and only if) you want to unlock iPhone 3GS or 3G 4.2.1 iOS with ultrasn0w 1.2.

14-redsn0w-options

Be sure to read the warning that redsn0w shows when you check the “Install iPad baseband” checkbox.

Step 4: In next step, connect your device to computer while it’s turned off. Then click “Next”. Be ready to perform some quick actions to enter DFU mode.

Step 5: Enter DFU mode, follow on-screen instructions that redsn0w shows.

15-redsn0w-dfu-mode

Soon as your device gets into DFU mode, redsn0w will begin the jailbreak process and will also update 05.15.04 to 06.15.00 baseband in the process.

iPhone 3GS, 3G Unlock iOS 4.2.1

After jailbreaking and updating the baseband, iPhone 3G and 3GS users can follow our guide on how to unlock iOS 4.2.1 with ultrasn0w 1.2.

Tagged with:

Ultrasn0w 1.2 unlock is now available in Cydia. It comes with bit of twist as it can unlock iPhone 3GS 4.2.1 and iPhone 3G 4.2.1 but can’t unlock 05.15.04 or 05.14.02 baseband. As a workaround, PwnageTool 4.1.3 lets you update iPhone 3GS, 3G to 06.15.00 baseband. Apparently ultrasn0w 1.2 can unlock 06.15.00 that actually is iPad 3.2.2 baseband. First your baseband is updated and then it’s unlocked, that’s as complex as it sounds. You can unlock your devices anyway, here is the guide:

How to Unlock iPhone 3GS, 3G 4.2.1 iOS

Step 1: Jailbreak iPhone 3GS 4.2.1 and also update baseband to 06.15.00 in the process.

Step 2: Run Cydia from SpringBoard.

Step 3: Tap on “Edit”, then hit “Add”, a prompt should appear asking “Enter Cydia/APT URL”.

Step 4: Enter http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/ and hit “Add Source”, then tap on “Return to Cydia”.

Step 5: Once the process completes, search for ultrasn0w 1.2 in Cydia and install it.

Step 6: After installation, reboot your iPhone. That’s it!

Enjoy your unlocked iPhone.
