Ultrasn0w iOS 4.3 Unlock Release Confirmed

For those of you wondering if Ultrasn0w unlock for iOS 4.3 would make its way out anytime soon, iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that they may release iOS 4.3 unlock with Ultrasn0w after Apple releases it to public. As of now, iOS 4.3 beta 1 is available to developers. Here is the tweet from MuscleNerd that hints to Ultrasn0w 4.3 unlock plans:

Official iPhone unlock statement: no unlock will be released until after 4.2.5 or official 4.3 (whichever is last) is out

Apple released CDMA Verizon iPhone with iOS 4.2.5, so it will be interesting to see the unlock scene.

3.10.01 & 2.10.04 Baseband Unlock iPhone 4 4.2.1 Release by January

For those of you who want 3.10.01 and 2.10.04 baseband unlock iPhone 4 4.2.1 iOS, rejoice! There’s good news regarding iOS 4.2.1 unlock for 2.10.04 baseband as well as for 3.10.01. According to a recent tweet from Sherif Hashim, iPhone 4 4.2.1 unlock could be just a month away. Here’s the Twitter conversation:

There you go! Till then, we’re almost certain to have untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak as Comex and the iPhone Dev Team are working on it. Currently Redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 6 can jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 but that’s tethered. There is also Ultrasn0w 1.2 for those who want to unlock iPhone 3GS 4.2.1 and iPhone 3G 4.2.1.

PwnageTool Tutorial: Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 4 4.1, 3GS 4.1

PwnageTool 4.1 for Mac OS X was released yesterday with support for additional devices. You can now jailbreak and unlock iPhone 4 4.1 and iPhone 3GS 4.1 as well as iPhone 3G. Here is our PwnageTool tutorial that will help you along the process:

Before you Begin:

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to the computer via USB

Step 2: Launch PwnageTool 4.1 and select your device. PwnageTool will advise the firmware for your device.

Step 3: In next step, browse for downloaded iOS 4.1 IPSW for your device

A dialog box will appear asking “Do you have an iPhone contract that would activate normally through iTunes?” Clicking yes will update your baseband.

Step 4: Click “No” if you rely on baseband unlock, click “Yes” if you are on official carrier and don’t need to unlock your device.

PwnageTool will process the jailbreak and prepare the custom IPSW for oyu now. Once the process completes you will see “ihaz Success!” message on screen.

Step 5: Your custom IPSW is now ready. Load custom IPSW in iPhone, (see how to).

Unlock iOS 4.1 (iPhone 4 4.1 Unlock)

Once your iPhone has been jailbroken, you can unlock it with ultrasn0w 1.0 by following the steps given below:

Step 1: Run Cydia from SpringBoard.

Step 2: Tap on “Edit”, then hit “Add”, a prompt should appear asking “Enter Cydia/APT URL”.

Step 3: Enter http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/ and hit “Add Source”, then tap on “Return to Cydia”.

Step 4: Once the process completes, search for ultrasn0w 0.93 in Cydia and install it.

Step 5: After installation, reboot your iPhone.

Greenpois0n Hacktivation for iPhone 4 Confirmed? Sort of!

Upcoming Greenpois0n jailbreak may support iPhone 4 hacktivation. Chronic Dev Team member Joshua Hill aka p0sixninja has hinted for Greenpois0n hacktivation capability in recent tweet. When asked if Greenpois0n jailbreak will support iPhone 4 hacktivation, p0sixninja said “Yes”. Here is the original exchange of tweets:

p0sixninja: yes

If it is to be believed, it’s likely that SHAtter based Greenpois0n will preserve the baseband. It’s not certain though. MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has also hinted for release of updated PwnageTool to jailbreak iOS 4.1 / 4.2 while preserving your baseband. Let’s see what comes out of it.

How to Unlock iPhone 4 (BB 01.59.00) with Ultrasn0w 1.0

Dev Team have released ultrasn0w 1.0 unlock for iPhone 4. Follow the step by step guide posted below to unlock iPhone 4 (software unlock):

Step 1: Jailbreak iPhone 4 with JailbreakMe. Once Jailbroken, you will find Cydia on HomeScreen.

Step 2: Open Cydia, go to “Manage” tab and tap on “Sources”.

Step 3: Once in “Sources” tap on “Edit” on top-right side, then hit on “Add”. A window will pop up:

Step 4: Enter http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com and hit “Add”.

Step 5: Tap on “Done” on top right corner.

Step 6: Go to “Search” tab in Cydia and search “ultrasn0w”. You should find ultrasn0w in there.

Step 7: Install ultrasn0w (Tap on “Install” on top right corner).

Once installation is complete, your iPhone 4 unlock will complete. Now you can use any sim card on your unlocked iPhone 4.

Ultrasn0w 1.0 Unlock iPhone 4 Released

As promised, ultrasn0w 1.0 unlock for iPhone 4 has been released. That’s the first iPhone 4 carrier unlock that enables you to use any sim you want with your iPhone. For those of you who are new to iPhone 4 unlock, you’d need to jailbreak iPhone 4 first before you go on to unlocking. If you want to unlock iPhone 3GS, you can use ultrasn0w 0.93 as well.

Planetbeing Unlock iPhone 4 with Ultrasn0w [Video]

Planetbeing has posted a video update showing the iPhone 4 unlocked, with presumably ultrasn0w unlock tool. Here is the video:

This shows an iPhone 4 unlock in working. Earlier, planetbeing posted another video update showing the World’s first and only unlocked iPhone 4. Here is the video:

We may still have to wait for release of ultrasn0w unlock for iPhone 4 since Apple has just rolled out iOS 4.1 Beta to developers. So there is more work to be done if there are any patches therein for jailbreak and unlock. We’ll just have to wait and see.

iPhone 4 Unlocked, PlanetBeing Unlocks iPhone 4

Yes you read it right, iPhone 4 gets unlocked already. Working on unlock for iPhone 4 for many days, MuscleNerd and Planetbeing have finally managed to have iPhone 4 unlocked successfully! This was posted on twitter by planetbeing, saying: “Looks like I now have an unlocked iPhone 4. :) ” Here is the screenshot of the tweet: iPhone4 unlocked by planetbeing & MuscleNerd Proofs are yet to come though and we will keep you updated. Software Unlock for iPhone 4 Ultrasn0w 0.94 Release Closer?

We all know iPhone Dev Team are working actively on unlock for iPhone 4, so we might see ultrasn0w 0.94 release soon. Recently, we updated you with progress that MuscleNerd and planetbeing had made in iPhone 4 unlock. And Today, they have posted a screenshot and couple of videos that show iPhone 4 baseband OS i.e. Nucleus OS accessed by the Dev Team. Here is the screenshot followed by the videos:

Considering the recent progress, we can hope that ultrasn0w 0.94 unlock for iPhone 4 may be here by the time comex patches his Spirit jailbreak to add support for iOS 4 jailbreak with Spirit. Currently iPod Touch and iPhone users can jailbreak iOS 4 with sn0wbreeze 1.7, redsn0w 0.9.5 beta 5-5 and PwnageTool. For unlockers, ultrasn0w 0.93 can unlock baseband 05.13, 05.12, 05.11 as well as 04.26.08.
