Many of you would be aware that Microsoft is working on next generation of Xbox 360. You can expect some cool new additions in upcoming release.

One of prominent new features is Skype for Xbox 360. This was earlier revealed in one of Xbox surveys that showed “Using Skype” as an option to the poll: "Other than playing games, which of the following activities do you enjoy on Xbox 360? (Check all that apply)”. Here’s a screenshot of the poll, as discovered by WinRumors earlier this month:

It was obvious after Microsoft purchased Skype, and now there’s a leaked video that shows off next generation Xbox 360 dashboard with “discoverable” option that will allow companion devices to discover your Xbox. New dashboard also has metro look and feel inspired by Windows Phone and Windows 8. With Kinect and Bing integration also being part of Xbox dashboard, looks like the next Xbox update is going to be huge as Microsoft plans to capture the living rooms with console. Now this is Big! We could experience location based games in WP7! XBox Live in WP7 (Windows Phone 7) will come alongside Bing Maps. This opens the doors of location based gaming in WP7. It will be the Xbox gaming experience powered by Bing Maps right on your WP7 device. Considering the success that Xbox Live and Bing Maps are already, this could be yet another killer feature for Windows Phone 7 and could possibly be the next generation of location based games on mobile devices.

As an example, Microsoft have released a screenshot of Crackdown 2: Project Sunburst for WP7 game that highlights the potential of Bing Maps:

Crackdown 2: Project Sunburst is a tank-like game that uses Bing Maps as backdrop.

Microsoft plans to associate location to your online profile using your device, that will then be used in location based games. To achieve this, Xbox Live, WP7 and Bing Maps teams are working closely. So we can expect something really good.
