I have just received this interesting comment on the post about using Spirit Fixer to fix Spirit iTunes error from AlexRM*iTA* who’s been facing the same “Spirit Requires iTunes 9 to function error”. According to Alex, Spirit Fixer didn’t work for him so he had to figure out a solution by himself. His comment was long enough so I thought to create a new post for it. Here is what Alex from Italy has to say:

Hi guyz, I had the same problem, and I can say NONE of the trickz around works! Then I discovered THE SOLUTION by myself. I hope it could help you solving this damned issue!!!

Here is the guide:

1) Copy spirit.exe inside this folder: C:\Program files\Common files\Apple\Apple Application Support\ and run from here. Now the software should work ;) .

If it didn’t work do as follow:

  1. Uninstall in this order: Itunes, Quicktime, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update;
  2. Restart Windows;
  3. (OPTIONAL – EXPERT ONLY) Open regedit and delete any traces regarding the word “apple” in the registry of windows;
  4. Do an advanced search in explorer (hidden and system files must be NOT HIDDEN) typing the word Apple in the search box and deletes ALL the installed Apple folders under All Users and “YOUR ACCOUNT NAME” User; have a look in the Program files Itunes folder, if it still there delete it.
  5. Delete or rename Itunes folder in Music folder;
  6. Restart Windows;
  7. Download Itunes v.9.0.3 (tested) and install the package;
  8. Plug your iPhone, let itunes found the drivers and your iPhone, then exit from itunes;
  9. Copy Spirit in the already mentioned folder, here: C:\Program files\Common files\Apple\Apple Application Support\
  10. ENJOY YOUR NEW JAILBREAKED IPHONE :D

Thank me if it works, if not…good luck!

My OS is Windows XP with iTunes 9.0.3 installed.
